How to set up artwork for Stickers and Labels

Ready-To-Go artwork is what we require and request from all of our customers for proofing and production. Ready-To-Go artwork is a digital design or digital image of your art-- not a drawing or sketch. We prefer "vector" file types (.eps, .pdf, .svg) as the image size can be modified (larger or smaller) while still maintaining high resolution. We also accept "raster" file types (.jpeg, .png, .tiff), but we ask that the image definition be set to at least 300 dots per inch (300 dpi). This will prevent the image from appearing grainy or pixelated.

Next, we'll define these important characteristics for your Stickers:

  • Bleed Region

  • Cut Line

  • Safe Zone

Bleed Region

The Bleed Region is the region of your design that extends beyond your cut line. If your background is not white, we require 1/8" (0.125") of Bleed. The Bleed Region is is important if you have any background details that you want to capture all the way to the edge of your sticker. The Bleed Region is necessary to ensure there are no unwanted white edges on your final sticker.

In the images below, the left image has a blue Bleed Region-- the edge of the sticker will be blue. The right image has no Bleed Region-- the edge of the sticker will be white.

Cut Line

The Cut Line represents the edge of your sticker-- This is the final shape and size of your sticker! The Cut Line is set up 1/8" (0.125") outside of your artwork-- this provides safety margin (known as the inset) to ensure that none of your critical artwork gets cut off during the production process.

Safe Zone

The Safe Zone is where all of your artwork containing important content and material should remain. Any artwork outside the Safe Zone will be at risk of being cut off during the production process, which is why a safety margin (inset) is factored in. Please make sure that ALL of your critical artwork and important information-- barcodes, images, logos, text, etc are inside the Safe Zone when designing your custom Sticker or Label.

A summary of all the important details for setting up your artwork is shown in the image below:
